Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Anything you type into a search tool on this site, such as a name or a date of birth, travels straight to the outside provider that performs the search. The provider processes the query and returns a result. We do not keep or record what you searched for.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we hold onto the message so we can write back. It stays with our team. We will not pass it to anyone outside the organization unless a legal duty requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page loads, our servers record a few technical facts about the visit:
- Your device's IP address
- The browser you use and its version
- Your operating system and the kind of device
- Which pages you opened and how long you spent on them
- The referring site, if one sent you here
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on your device, and we use them to understand how visitors move through the site, including which pages draw the most traffic and where people leave. Analytics services help pull that traffic data together. Your browser can block cookies at any time, though a few parts of the site may act differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
The data we collect serves a small set of purposes:
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Forwarding your search request to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need work
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Serving ads that may relate to your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, keep, compile, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. It publishes general guidance about where Mahnomen County warrant records live and how to check them through the district court, the county sheriff's office, and the state case system. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing gathered about visitors is turned into a consumer report or a file on a third party.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes on this site. Whatever you enter into one of those tools is handled under the partner's privacy policy, not this one. Those companies decide their own retention and sharing rules, and we have no say over them. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
This site links out to court pages, the county sheriff's office, the state case system, legal aid groups, and third-party search tools. Following one of those links takes you off this site, and from that point the other site's privacy policy applies. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners may follow your activity across sites in order to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of parties may still receive some information:
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order compels it
How We Protect Your Data
We rely on standard security practices to guard the data we collect. Nothing online is fully airtight, though. We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Where you live may shape what rights you have over your data. Minnesota's open-records framework, the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act (Minn. Stat. chapter 13), governs how state agencies handle data rather than how a private site does, and it is the law this site points to when explaining how government warrant records are released. For the information you send us directly, you can:
- Ask to see what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct something that is wrong
- Ask us to erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change later on. When it does, the revised version will appear on this page with a new effective date. Check back if you want to follow how your information is handled.
